zdravo Craiova
I had heard a lot of different opinions before I came to Romania, ranging from people who could not get enough to people that wouldn't go back if their life depended on it. Based on this viewpoints I looked forward to formulating my own, and here it is. Pros: There's something about the atmosphere that is nothing short of enlivening. While walking through the Romanescu park , it is almost as though the crazy amount of green coming from everywhere charges your soul and really makes you forget what time it is or how many kilometres you've walked that day. It is so far my favorite part of Craiova and I make sure to visit the park at least once a day.
The cultural aspect of Craiova was probably my favorite. Whether if it's just visiting a specialty bake shop, or simply people- watching, there is a unique culture to be found at every turn and some of the architecture is so impressive you feel as though the buildings themselves are alive and luring you to listen to what they have to say. Cons: One of the biggest complaint I heard about this city before my trip was the smell and boy, did that ring true! It isn't a constant lighering, but more of a sudden wall of odor that would just smack you in the face every few blocks and then fade away only to rear it's ugly head in another 100 steps. It lends itself to a very unique blend of aromas. So there it is. My first impressions of the city Overall there were many things about the city I've enjoyed so far ( the food, the music, the culture) and things I could have gone without ( the smell, homelessness) So do I like the city so far? Yes, and I am looking forward to seeing more of this promising country.
