Day by day

It’s been two weeks since my arrival in Craiova and I feel like I’ve lived here a long time. I talked about that with my colleagues (we arrived at the same time, more or less) and we realized that it was a common feeling. It’s hard to explain, but it’s a good sensation, probably related to the warm reception that we receveid.

In these day I’m meeting a lot of people, above all others volunteers that made me feel at home, and going to exploration of the city with my colleagues of the project, Cristina and Isabella. It’s really great to see a big family like ours, which includes people from all over the world, feeling so good together.

Craiova is very nice: everywhere you can find amazing old buildings, built in a very different way from our style of architecture in Italy, even if some of them look like small Roman temples but also squares, monuments or, I remember now, the Romancescu Park with frozen lake (the previous week it was minus 20 degrees). The people is always ready to helps us, for example when we are following the wrong path (in the first period almost every day).

I live in a flat in Ciuperca district with Cristina, my Portuguese colleague, Ilkay, a girl from Istanbul, and just two days ago came Natasha from Russia. Usually we do a lot of interesting things (I am kidding, obviously also stupid things) all together and that is a good occasion to improve my English (Cristina is my personal teacher and usually she corrects me just one or two hundred times a day). But I don’t care about it, because I know that if you don’t make mistake, you can’t improve yourself: it’s one of the basic rules of the experience.

Anyway, the town is not too big and from our flat we can reach easily the city center or other meeting places like, for example, the “BEER GARDEN”, one of the favorites meeting places for volunteers, that has already become our second office.

From the beginning of this week, we started brainstorming ideas about “KROMATIKON project”, and I can say that everyone is really full of energy. We went to the “British school”, here in Craiova, to start talking about our tasks with the children, but also we met the others guys of hosting association to start moving in our plans, and much more. Obviously you already know it, following us on Fb page and in the website every day ;)
